Hábitos de vida saludables en el síndrome metabólico

Abstract

En la actualidad el síndrome metabólico (SM) constituye un problema de salud evidente, no solo por su alta prevalencia sino también por su papel como factor de riesgo para otras enfermedades que implican elevada morbimortalidad. Diversas publicaciones en revistas electrónica informan a la comunidad internacional sobre este padecimiento, formas de prevención y acciones terapéuticas para mitigar complicaciones. Ejemplos de ello lo constituyen artículos como: Asociación entre hipertensión arterial y SM,1 Enfermedad periodontal y SM,2 Epidemiología y prevención del SM,3 y particularmente el trabajo de los artemiseños titulado: Evolución clínica y pronóstico en adolescentes obesos al oeste de La Habana,4quienes definen variables pronósticos asociados a la obesidad en adolescentes pertenecientes a 5 policlínicos aledaños de San Antonio de los Baños, provincia Artemisa.
