Urgencias pediátricas maxilofaciales en el Hospital Universitario de Maabar, Thamar República de Yemen

Se realizó un estudio en 256 niños atendidos con traumatismos de la región maxilofacial en el servicio de urgencias del Hospital Universitario de Maabar Thamar República de Yemen, en el período comprendido desde el año 2006 hasta el 2009, de los cuales el 75.8 % correspondieron al sexo masculino y el 24.2 % al femenino. El grupo de edades más afectado fue el de 5-9 años seguido del de 10-14 años entre hembras y varones. Las causas principales de los traumatismos fueron las caídas 46.2%, las heridas contusas 38.3%, la lesión más frecuente de los tejidos blandos y las fracturas nasales y mandibulares en los tejidos duros. Un total de 119 casos presentó alguna lesión asociada, lo que aumento la gravedad de los casos.Downloads
