Necrotizing fasciitis due to Staphylococcus aureus. Case report
Keywords:
fasciitis, necrotizing /diagnosis, therapeutics, staphylococcal infectionsAbstract
Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare and progressive bacterial infection that can affect any part of the body. The objective of this work is to describe the therapeutic management and evolution of a case of necrotizing fasciitis due to Staphylococcus aureus, as well as the importance of early diagnosis. A 56-year-old female patient came to the emergency room with a wound on her leg that did not improve with local treatment, accompanied by fever and inability to walk. Multiple surgical interventions were performed until the patient recovered. Current studies show that the etiological agents are different from those that were frequently present a few years ago. Necrotizing fasciitis is a disease that puts the patient's life at risk. Timely diagnosis and early and aggressive surgical intervention ensure good results.
