Abstract

The life and work of Dr. Vicente Iglesias Fernández is presented for distinguishing his memory. He was born in Havana, formerly Havana City province, and later moved to La Salud, located in the municipality of Quivicán, where he became a distinguished personality during the 20th-century medicine. This article aims to share with younger generations the relevant information from his career as a municipal doctor and mayor. In his service and social work, he benefited the people of Quivicán by building the First Aid Center and founding the first nursing home in Cuba after the triumph of the Revolution. Dr. Vicente Iglesias is characterized by his infinite love for his profession and respect for his fellow human beings. Currently, the town's Comprehensive Polyclinic, founded in 1961, where he practices medicine, bears his name.
