About the article “Characterization of depression in elderly adults assisted at post- COVID-19 consultation”

At the end of 2020, when it was beginning to control the first great quantity of cases, it was observed something unusual: some COVID-19 patients still has symptoms after the initial infection. They had problems such as fatigue, dyspnea, chest pain, palpitations, gastrointestinal symptoms, mental confusion, anxiety and depression. The clinical manifestations that appeared after the acute phase have determined the suggestion of the terms: post-acute or prolonged COVID, chronic COVID, persistent COVID, long duration COVID, but maybe the most used was post-COVID syndrome. Every time it is shown the drastic increasing of depression after the COVID-19 pandemic in all ages and particularly in the elderly adult. The comprehensive management of the elderly adult in this stage has a vital importance for the pertinent detection of symptoms and signs of depression and so, be able to elaborate a multisectorial strategy to obtain a biopsychosocial assistance.Downloads
